Wheal Coates - A disused Cornish Tin Mine near St Agnes North Cornwall coast England GB UK Europe
Alamy reference D2APAF
Wheal Coates is a former tin mine situated on the north coast of Cornwall, England, UK, on the cliff tops between Porthtowan and St Agnes.
Earliest records indicate a mine at the site since 1692.[3][4] The present mine opened in 1802 and was closed in 1889 when the price of tin fell.[4][2] It came into full production in 1815.[3] Flooding and bringing ore to the surface were the main problems of the mine until steam-driven equipment was available, as the mine's underground operations extended for some distance under the sea.[4][5] The mine was sold in 1844 and thereafter allowed to flood. About Neale And Judith Clark
Neale's taken photos for as long as he can remember and can't imagine not being photographer. He was already processing his own film and shooting with an SLR in primary school! We met at University and discovered a shared passion for travel and artwork. We've since travelled the world shooting together but the travel has always been completely linked to photography and somehow very little compares to the magic of capturing a new location in the perfect light. We hope that these images capture the feeling that we had when we saw that light and really portray the atmosphere of the locations. They've been used all over the planet to illustrate books, magazines, travel brochures, calenders and websites. Maybe they would look good on your wall!...
